The Heathen Are Come
August 19, 2017

Long before the guns at Ft. Sumter ignited the American Civil War in 1861, another war was waged on the distant border of Kansas and Missouri. There, in 1854, the fight between pro-slavery Missourians and antislavery Kansans began. The anger and hatred of the two parties soon escalated from a war of words to a war of violence in which Americans finally got down to the bloody business of killing one another over this question: “Will... more»
Guns
July 27, 2016

Many are we who own guns. Some of we even tote ’em. Why? Because, unlike those who do not own, much less carry, guns, me, myself and millions more have gained a glimpse of what is “out there.”
At some point in my spin on this mortal coil I have seen the face of evil . . . raw, soulless evil . . . and it is a frightening face to behold, indeed. In my life alone I have looked into the dead, empty eyes of those who would... more»
The “Greatest Generation”
March 29, 2016

Every month, it seems, yet another movie is released based upon some real or some fanciful event of World War Two. Invariably, like some stylized Greek drama in which the actors all wear the same masks and all chant the same lines, the cast in these propagandistic morality plays are as predictable as the message. On one side are arrayed the Allies, the good guys; generally, these are the happy-go-lucky gum-chewing Americans who are... more»
Berlin: Our Finest Hour
March 4, 2016

(The following is from my book, Hellstorm–The Death of Nazi Germany, 1944-1947)
On the afternoon of April 24, 1945, Helmuth Weidling, along with an aide, Major Siegfried Knappe, entered Berlin, his automobile escorted by a pair of roaring motorcycles. Due to the chaotic conditions caused by the Russian advance, Weidling’s corp had lost touch with other units and the general hoped to regain contact via the communications... more»
Good War . . . Great Peace
November 10, 2015

To help celebrate the end of the “Good War” in 1945 and the beginning of the “Good Peace,” allow me to offer the following from my books, Hellstorm–The Death of Nazi Germany, 1944-1947 and Rape Hate–Sex and Violence in War and Peace.

And so, with the once mighty German Army now disarmed and enslaved in May, 1945, and with their leaders either dead or awaiting trial for so-called “war crimes,” the old men,... more»
Hellstorm – Now in German!
November 5, 2015

Millions murdered . . . Millions raped . . . Millions tortured . . . Millions enslaved . . . Millions of men, women and children cast to the winds. . . . No matter what you have read about the Second World War, no matter what you have been told about it, no matter what you believe happened during the so-called “Good War” . . . forget it!
Now, for the first time in over 70 years, learn what the war and “peace”... more»
The Face of War

Little Big Horn . . . Rosebud . . . Sand Creek . . . Washita . . . Summit Springs . . . Slim Buttes . . . Beecher’s Island. . . .
Many of us are familiar with the big battles of the Indian Wars. They have been written about, they have been portrayed in film, their lessons have been studied by young and old about to go to modern wars. From fights such as the above, we unavoidably come away with a somewhat romantic notion of the... more»
Jim Jones
September 1, 2015

The other night I watched the new documentary on Jim Jones and the Guyana Massacre. This piqued my interest to learn more. Must say that when the event actually occurred back in 1978, I was living in Boston and having a good time and thus paid little attention to it. My impression back then was pretty much my impression now; rather, was my impression until I started digging deeper.
I have never been one to accept the standard version of... more»
Dresden, 1945

(The following is from my book, Hellstorm—The Death of Nazi Germany, 1944-1947. It describes one of the greatest crimes of World War Two and perhaps the largest one-day massacre ever recorded. )

I’ve known Bob Dalton for quite some time. He is a soft-spoken, handsome man with an honest face and, if there was more of it, he has the kind of silver hair that younger men would die for. Bob is also a gentleman, top to toe. Originally from Independence, Kansas—a school mate of famed TV journalist, Bill Kurtis—Bob now calls the capital of Kansas his home. I met with Bob one hot, humid evening at the Blind Tiger brew... more»

More On Travel, Part Two
August 5, 2016

Unlike the day before, there was no relegation of duty on this, the first full day of work. Before Gene hardly had time to consider his late humiliation and his hike back to Sheridan, he found himself on a hay wagon.
While the rotund and good-natured brother-in-law drove the tractor through the pasture, Mr. Carlson and I walked along on either side and “bucked” the bales from the ground up to the wagon. For the first two rows... more»
More On Travel
August 4, 2016

In keeping with the travel motif I seem to be stuck in, the following is a reminiscence of 1965. After high school graduation, myself and a friend, Gene Miller, hit the road in my red Corvair, determined to see the world. I was 17, the draft and Vietnam war would nip at my heels the following year and I was determined to live a little bit before a died a lot. After a series of odd jobs–picking melons in the Mohave desert,... more»
Geezer Sleezers
November 15, 2015

Let’s face it, “dirty old men” have pretty much had a corner on disgusting depravity and degeneracy for decades now. Judging by recent reports, it would seem that down here in South Florida such crimes are a market our salty seniors don’t plan on relinquishing.
Other age groups, from puberty up, engage in depraved behavior, ‘tis true, but simple longevity has allowed the geezer to perfect the art of human degeneracy to a point... more»
Land of a Thousand Dunces

This blog entry is dedicated to the 74-year-old cyclist who was determined to prove that he had the right-away this week while a tractor-trailer was also rolling through the same intersection. No surprise to learn, I suppose, that the truck won. No surprise either that Charlotte County today counts one less stupid biker on the road. And last, and certainly least, no surprise that this offers a seamless segue into today’s blog.... more»
Fun With Cretins
October 6, 2015

Squidbillies was one of my favorite programs. Don’t ask me why ’cause I ain’t agonna go there. First came “Beavis & Butthead,” then “Squidbillies.” For good reason both came on only at 2 or 3 in the morning. Women hate them, of course; and guys, of course, love ’em. Below is a little narrative from these redneck Georgia cartoon cretins.

What Can You Say? Seems federal bureaucrats are reading this blog.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration did a study to determine who, men or women, confuse the gas with the brake pedal most often. Although I personally do not give a flying fig which gender is the craziest, this fancy study discovered that women, three to one, most often are the culprits. And, in another goofy million-dollar study, the group learned... more»
Fleecing God’s Sleepless Sheep, or “But Wait! There’s More!” Part 2
August 8, 2015

Yesterday we blazed new trails by offering an in-depth, super scientific look at info-mania, info-mercials, info-scams, and the worthless info-junk being hustled on TV. If you doubt that this stuff is info-useless, then go to any yard sale or snoop in any garage, basement or out-of-the-way closet in America or Canada and you will clearly see the effectiveness of these dust-gathering products.
The Typical Cast on an Info-hustle include:

Fleecing God’s Sleepless Sheep, or “But Wait! There’s More!”
August 7, 2015

Back when I was living under a bridge, back about seven or eight years ago, I had a tiny battery-operated TV. When I couldn’t sleep I’d flip the stupid thing on. Except for the weather channel and two local access stations, at 2-5 AM every channel is airing an infomercial. If you think that this is a sure guarantee to either 1) put you back to sleep or 2) assure suicide, think again. Gold is where you find it.

Murder Becomes Her
August 3, 2015

The title of this post has absolutely zero to do with the weighty matters below. I just thought that the pretty young bride above, the one about to settle her “out-of-court divorce” from a cheating groom, was kinda compelling. My own verdict? Two thumbs down on the rat. Any man that would cuck this babe deserves death.

Sam Walton really missed the boat. If the old fool had really wanted to get rich and retire early he would have built a large theater above the entrances to all of his stores. Each theater would seat several hundred people and two huge one-way glasses would face both the parking lot and the checkout counters. These theaters are for those among us who want to gape open-mouthed at the freak show in the store, but are otherwise too... more»
